The Challenge
A condo corporation received a fire inspection order listing twelve stairwell and corridor doors with missing labels, failed closers and gaps outside tolerance, with a deadline attached.
Scope
- NFPA 80 review of all 12 listed openings
- 90-minute labelled stair assemblies
- Rated closers and positive latching on corridor doors
- Photo and label record for the fire inspector
Our Approach
We checked each opening against NFPA 80 and separated doors that could be corrected from assemblies that had to be replaced. The written scope showed both lists with a price range per opening.
New 90-minute labelled doors and frames went in on the stair shafts, with new closers and latching hardware elsewhere. Each opening was photographed with label details for re-inspection.
Outcome
The order was closed at re-inspection, and the condo board now has a documented record for every rated opening.
"Our condo received a fire inspection order listing twelve stairwell and corridor doors with missing labels, failed closers and gaps outside tolerance. The team reviewed the order, checked each opening against NFPA 80, and sent a written scope separating doors that could be corrected from assemblies that had to be replaced. They installed new 90-minute labelled doors and frames on the stair shafts and new closers and latching hardware elsewhere. Every opening was documented with photos and label details for re-inspection, and the order was closed."
