What this calculator does

Facility managers, property managers and general contractors in the GTA usually need a number before they need a quote. A budget line has to go into a capital plan, a tenant fit-out schedule or a bid package long before a technician visits the site. This calculator turns the price ranges we use on real jobs into a quick estimate you can put in front of an approver today.

Pick the type of work, the number of openings and the hardware you expect to add. The tool multiplies our published per-opening range by your opening count, adds the hardware range, and applies a volume adjustment on larger batches. You see a low and a high figure in Canadian dollars. The width of the range is deliberate. Two openings that look identical from the sidewalk can differ in frame condition, wall construction, glazing and code requirements, and each of those moves the final price.

How the estimate is built

The service options map to the work we do most: new commercial door installs, hollow metal door and frame packages, storefront system bays, aluminum entrances, automatic operators, automatic sliding doors, fire-rated doors, and the main replacement scopes. Each option carries a low and high price per opening. Hardware add-ons such as closers, push bars, locks and pulls, access control and AODA operators carry their own ranges and are added on top.

Batches of five to nine openings receive a 5% reduction, and ten or more receive 10%, because mobilization, measuring and ordering costs are spread across more doors. Results are rounded to the nearest $50 so the output reads like a budget figure rather than false precision.

What the number does not include

This is a planning range, not a quote. It does not replace a site measure, and it assumes standard conditions. Hidden frame damage, out-of-plumb openings, unusual wall thickness, special finishes, engineered glazing and permit or inspection requirements can all push a job above the range. Likewise, reusing sound existing frames and hardware can bring a replacement toward the low end.

Our process removes the guesswork. We book a free site measure ($0 first visit), photograph and dimension each opening, and send a written CAD spec and price within 2 business days. Nothing is ordered before you approve that spec. Jobs over $2,500 carry a 30% deposit, and the written warranty applies to every leaf we install.

Using the result well

If you are budgeting, use the high figure for contingency and the low figure for the best case. If you are comparing bids, make sure every bidder prices the same scope: frames, hardware, glazing, finishing and disposal of old units. If you have a drawing set, the Division 8 Scope Builder on this site can turn it into draft line items, and the timeline estimator shows how long the work will take from measure to closed install. When you are ready, send the estimate to our spec desk using the form below the result and we will confirm real numbers against your actual openings.

Commercial Door Install Cost Calculator: FAQ

How accurate is the commercial door install cost calculator?

It gives a planning range based on the price ranges we use for GTA commercial jobs. Actual pricing depends on frame condition, wall type, glazing and hardware, which we confirm at a free site measure and state in a written CAD spec within 2 business days.

Does the estimate include hardware and installation labour?

The per-opening ranges cover the door scope and installation. Hardware such as closers, push bars, locks and access control is added through the hardware selector, so you can see the effect of each choice on the range.

Do I need to pay for a site measure before I get a firm price?

No. The first site visit is free. After the measure we send a written CAD spec and price, and nothing is ordered until you approve it. Jobs over $2,500 carry a 30% deposit.
